There is a specific moment that guests at Sunset Shoreline describe more than almost anything else: floating in the rooftop infinity pool as the sun drops toward Corfu island on the horizon. The Ionian Sea below the pool turns from turquoise to gold. The silhouette of the Greek island darkens against the last light. The pool reflects the sky. The pool bar is within reach. Nothing between you and the horizon except water and air.
This is what we built the pool for. Albania's tourism is growing fast — Lonely Planet and the Albanian National Tourism Agency both highlight the Albanian Riviera as one of Europe's most exciting coastal destinations.
The Infinity Pool at Sunset Shoreline Saranda
Sunset Shoreline Hotel has the only rooftop infinity pool in Saranda with a panoramic sea view. The pool is positioned at the highest point of the hilltop property — elevated above the city, facing west over the Ionian Sea and the Corfu Channel.
| Type | Rooftop infinity pool |
| View | 180° Ionian Sea — Saranda bay, Corfu island, Albanian coast to Ksamil |

| Additional pools | Second outdoor pool + hot tub on the same property |
| Access | Hotel guests only — included with all rooms |
| Best time | Late afternoon through sunset — approximately 17:00–20:30 |
| Hotel rating | 9.3/10 Booking.com (600+ reviews) — “The pool and view are unmatched” |
The View from the Water
The infinity pool is positioned to face west — the direction of the Ionian Sea and the sunset. From the water, the view is unobstructed:
- Directly below: Saranda city and the full crescent of the bay, 60–80 metres below the pool level
- West across the channel: Corfu island, clearly visible at 3km distance — mountains, coastline, and the nearest Corfu villages
- South along the coast: the Albanian Riviera stretching toward Ksamil and the Butrint peninsula
- Behind (east): the Albanian mountains — from the pool, you can turn and see both the sea ahead and the mountains behind
The infinity edge faces west over the sea — when the pool is still, the Ionian horizon appears to continue into the water. At sunset, the pool reflects the golden sky. This is the specific photographic composition that appears in Sunset Shoreline's reviews and Instagram presence more than any other.
The Pool Bar
The pool bar serves from the same hilltop terrace as the pool. The menu is designed for the outdoor, poolside context: cocktails featuring Albanian raki (the national spirit), local honey, and regional fruits; classic international cocktails; wine by the glass (local Albanian and imported); beer; non-alcoholic options.
The sunset cocktail is the signature pool bar order — a raki-based drink with citrus and local herbs, timed to the golden hour. The pool bar connects directly to Observatory Restaurant below, so moving from an afternoon swim to a sunset dinner on the terrace is seamless. Observatory Restaurant guide
Three Pools — The Full Water Offering
Sunset Shoreline has three water options, built deliberately for different experiences:
| Rooftop infinity pool | The signature experience — panoramic view, pool bar, sunset. The one guests come for |
| Second outdoor pool | Larger, quieter — for morning laps or families preferring more space and less crowding at the view pool |
| Hot tub | Evening use — particularly good in the shoulder season (May, September, October) when evenings are cooler |
The three-pool setup means there is always an option that is quiet and uncrowded, even in peak summer.
Why a Rooftop Infinity Pool in Saranda Is Different
Infinity pools exist at many Mediterranean hotels. The specific quality of the Sunset Shoreline pool is the view it's built into. Santorini infinity pools face the caldera — famous, expensive, crowded. The Sunset Shoreline pool faces the Ionian Sea and Corfu island from a hilltop that most hotels in Albania have never tried to build on. The view is comparable in quality; the experience is a fraction of the price and without the tourist infrastructure that makes Santorini feel like a theme park in August.
Several guest reviews make exactly this comparison unprompted. We don't make the comparison ourselves — but we do note that the Ionian sunset from this pool is genuinely exceptional by any standard.
Frequently Asked Questions — Infinity Pool Saranda
Which hotel in Saranda has the best infinity pool?
Sunset Shoreline Saranda Hotel has the only rooftop infinity pool in the city with a panoramic 180-degree view of the Ionian Sea and Corfu island. The pool is at the highest point of the hilltop property, with a pool bar, second outdoor pool, and hot tub also on-site. Access is included with all room bookings.
Is the infinity pool open to non-hotel guests?
No — the infinity pool is reserved for hotel guests. For non-guests who want to experience the hilltop view and sunset, Observatory Restaurant on the same property is open to all visitors with a reservation. The restaurant terrace has the same 180-degree panoramic view.
What time is best to use the infinity pool in Saranda?
The late afternoon through sunset — approximately 17:00–20:30 — is the best time for the pool. The light on the Ionian turns golden from around an hour before sunset, and the moment the sun drops behind Corfu island is the specific experience most guests come to the pool for. Morning is excellent for a quieter swim in cool air before the heat of the day.
Does the Saranda infinity pool have a pool bar?
Yes — the pool bar at Sunset Shoreline serves cocktails, raki-based drinks, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options from the rooftop terrace. The bar connects directly to Observatory Restaurant, making the transition from afternoon swim to sunset dinner seamless.
