Lekuresi Castle is a 16th-century Ottoman fortress on the hill 4km from Saranda's center. Free to access on foot (15–20 minute walk uphill from the promenade) or by taxi (€2–4). The waterfront promenade faces west across the bay. The sunset is visible here and the atmosphere — cafes, gelaterias, the whole city out for the evening — is pleasant. The sea-level view lacks the Corfu silhouette drama of the hilltop (Corfu is visible but lower on the horizon) and there are buildings in some parts of the sightline. For visitors who prefer the urban waterfront experience to the hilltop, the promenade at sunset is still beautiful — just not the same category of view.
